1. ELIGIBLE APPLICANTS FOR B VISA

This type of visa is issued to applicants who wish to enter the Kingdom for the following purposes:

  • Work in Thai companies or be on paid internship
  • Work in Thai educational institutions
  • Conduct business, e.g. short-term business visit upon invitation by Thai business counterparts
  • Invest in Thailand (through ownership of condominium, deposit in a Thai bank, or Thai government bond, with face value not less than 3 million THB).

2. B VISA CONDITIONS

2.1 B Visa is valid for a single entry for business-related purposes only.

2.2 B Visa is valid for 90 days from the date of issuance. Travellers must enter Thailand within the said 90-day period. They will be allowed to stay in Thailand for a period of up to 90 days, counting from the date of entry. During the 90-day period of stay, if they wish to leave and re-enter Thailand, they are required to apply for a re-entry permit (single or multiple) before departure. If they leave Thailand without a re-entry permit, the current stay permit shall be considered void.

2.3 Extention of visa is possible. Those qualified may obtain an additional one-year stay permit, counting from the date of entry to Thailand. The extension of stay is at the discretion of the immigration officer. Extension application can be made at the Office of Immigration Bureau (visit www.immigration.go.th for more information)

2.4 If the B Visa holder breaches the entry conditions, the stay permit will be revoked and he/she will be prohibited from entering Thailand in the future.

3. B VISA APPLICATION PROCEDURES

3.1 PREPARE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS AS FOLLOWS:

  1. Completed application form – to download CLICK HERE
  2. Passport with at least two empty pages and validity not less than 6 months from the date of planned entry to Thailand
  3. One recent passport-sized photograph (4×6 cm), taken within the past six months
  4. Copy of registration of residency of Austria, Slovakia or Slovenia if you are not a citizen of Austria, Slovakia or Slovenia
  5. 6-month Bank Statement with funds not less than 500,000 THB (15,000 EUR) maintained THROUGHOUT 6 months (This requirement does not apply to those who already have permission to work in Thailand, i.e. those applicants with valid work permit, WP.3 or BOI letter)
  6. Visa processing fee: 70 Euro (in cash only / non-refundable)
  7. Other required documents as determined by the purposes of entry as follows:
  • For those who wish to work or be on a paid internship in private companies
    • Employment contract between the applicant and the company qualified to employ foreigners in Thailand, indicating rationale for employing the applicant as well as his/her salary, position and qualifications (the contract must be signed by authorized managing director and affixed with the company’s seal)
    • Original letter from the company addressed to the Royal Thai Embassy in Vienna, requesting for a visa, specifying name, position, period of employment, salary, education, and job experience of the applicant
    • Corporate documents of the company in Thailand:
      1) business registration and business license
      2) list of shareholders
      3) company profile
      4) details of business operation
      5) list of foreign workers stating names, nationalities and positions
      6) map indicating location of the company
      7) balance sheet, statement of Income Tax and Business Tax (Por Ngor Dor 50 and Por Ngor Dor 30 of the latest year)
      8) value-added tax registration (Por Por 20)
      9) Document indicating the number of foreign tourists (for tourism business only), or documents indicating export transactions issued by banks (for export business only).
      Please note that proof of company certificate in Thailand must be certified by the Registrar within the previous 6 months.
    • Proof of education and work experience of the applicant
    • For those who already have permission to work in Thailand:
      • Copy of Work Permit issued by the Ministry of Labour, OR
      • Letter of approval from the Thailand Board of Investment (BOI), OR
      • Letter of approval from the Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT), OR
      • Letter of approval from the Ministry of Labour (To obtain this letter, the prospective employer in Thailand is required to submit WP.3 Form at the Office of Foreign Workers Administration, Department of Employment, Ministry of Labour, or at a Provincial Employment Office in the respective province.     • Remarks: only single-entry visa will be granted to the applicant. Upon arrival in the Kingdom, he/she must apply for a working permit (if he/she does not already have it) at the Department of Employment, Ministry of Labour or at a Provincial Employment Office in the respective province.
  • For those who wish to work in private educational institution / school
    • Employment contract between the applicant and the qualified private educational institution / school, indicating details of position, salary, and the employment term
    • Original letter from a company addressed to the Royal Thai Embassy in Vienna, requesting for a visa specifying name, position, period of employment, salary, education, and job experience of the applicant
    • Copy of the license to establish an educational institution issued by the Private Education Commission / governmental competent authority
    • Recommendation from the former employer on the applicant’s teaching experiences in Austria (or other countries)
    • In the case of private school, copies of the applicant’s education background, teacher’s license, and criminal record shall also be submitted
    • Remarks: only single-entry visa will be granted to the applicant. Upon arrival in the Kingdom, he/she must apply for a working permit (if he/she does not alreadty have it) at the Department of Employment, Ministry of Labour or at a Provincial Employment Office in the respective province.
  • For those who wish to conduct Business in Thailand (for example, a short business trip)
    • Original letter of invitation by the company in Thailand addressed to the applicant or the applicant’s company, indicating the purpose and period of the invited visit. The company must have a registered capital not less than 2 million THB.
    • Document certifying that the applicant is legally employed in Austria, Slovakia or Slovenia (e.g. a confirmation letter from the company in Austria, Slovakia or Slovenia where the applicant is current employed)
    • If self-employed, proof of financial evidence and corporate documents are required (bank statement, annual tax invoice, etc.)
    • Original letter from the company in Thailand addressed to the Royal Thai Embassy in Vienna, requesting for a visa, stating the objective and intended period of the applicant’s visit to Thailand.
    • Corporate documents of the company in Thailand:
      1) business registration and business license
      2) list of shareholders
      3) company profile
      4) details of business operation
      5) map indicating location of the company
      6) balance sheet, statement of Income Tax and Business Tax (Por Ngor Dor 50 and Por Ngor Dor 30) of the latest year
      7) Foreigner income tax return (Por Ngor Dor 91)
      8) value-added tax registration (Por Por 20)
      Please note that proof of company certificate in Thailand must be certified by the Registrar within the previous 6 months.
  • For those investing in Thailand with ownership of condominium, deposit in a Thai bank, or Thai government bond, with face value not less than 3 million THB may also apply for this type of visa (as from 9 October 2020)
    • Evidence showing ownership of a condominium, deposit in a Thai bank, Thai government bond, with face value not less than 3 million THB
    • Other documents as may be required by consular officers

3.2 MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO SUBMIT THE ABOVE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS IN PERSON WITH THE ROYAL THAI EMBASSY IN VIENNA

  • Please note that it is not possible to apply for the visa via post. All postal applications will be rejected.
  • Applicants residing in Slovakia and Slovenia may submit their B (single entry) Visa applications with the Royal Thai Honorary Consulate-General in Bratislava and the Royal Thai Honorary Consulate-General in Ljubljana, respectively. The Royal Thai Honorary Consulates in Austria may also receive B (single entry) Visa applications from applicants residing in their respective areas. 4. B VISA PROCESSING TIME

  • Visa processing time is usually 3 days.
  • Certain applications which require special consideration may take longer to process.
  • Successful applicants may collect their passports at the Embassy or choose to have their passports sent to them via post (if this option is chosen, an envelop and postage fee must be provided upon application submission).

5. REMARKS

  • Documents in foreign languages must be translated into Thai or into English.
  • Copies of company documents must be signed by Board of Directors or an authorized employee on behalf of the company (with evidence of proof stating that authorization) and affixed the seal of the company.
  • In the absence of a required document, a letter explaining the unavailability of such document must be provided.
  • Consular officers reserve the right to request additional documents as deemed necessary.
  • Visa processing fee is subject to change without prior notice.
  • Nationals of certain countries are required to apply for a visa only at the Thai Embassy or Consulate-General in their home/residence country or at the designated Thai Embassy.
  • The applicants must provide genuine documents and information. If the applicants provide fraudulent documents or false information, their applications will be rejected and they may be prohibited from entering Thailand in the future.

6. OTHER ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: CERTIFICATE OF ENTRY & OTHER DOCUMENTS

 

  • Upon receiving B Visa, the travellers must apply for the Certificate of Entry (COE). Without the COE, travellers will be refused entry to Thailand even if they hold valid visas. For more information on Thailand’s entry regulations, please visit www.thaiembassy.at/en/coe.
  • B Visa holders must prepare the following required documents to apply for COE online (APPLY HERE: https://coethailand.mfa.go.th/)
    • For pre-approval stage (Registration):
      • Copy of passport
      • Copy of valid B Visa
      • Copy of Work Permit, WP.3, BOI Letter, or IEAT Letter (if already obtained)
      • Health insurance which expressly covers medical treatment expenditures of COVID-19, with minimum coverage of USD 100,000 during the entire stay in Thailand. Travellers are advised to purchase their health insurance which meets Thailand’s entry criteria here: http://covid19.tgia.org/
    • For final approval stage (Confirmation):
      • Flight confirmation
      • Confirmation of Alternative State Quarantine (ASQ) hotel booking for a minimum of 15 nights, starting from the date of the arrival in Thailand.   • At check-in and upon arrival in Thailand, all travellers are required to present the following documents:
    • COE
    • Valid visa / re-entry permit
    • Fit to Fly Health Certificate issued no more than 72 hours before departure time
    • Medical Certificate with a laboratory result indicating that COVID-19 is not detected, using RT-PCR method, which has been certified or issued no more than 72 hours before departure time
    • Health insurance which meets the entry requirement & ASQ hotel confirmation
