This small island Koh Hai (mostly spelled Koh Ngai) with only 5 km2 offers magnificent beaches fringed with coconut palms and forested hills. The east coast features a beautiful 2 km long sandy beach that is partly dispersed with coral rocks. During low tide it is not possible to swim as there are many tall corals rising out of the sparkling clear water. Even at high tide you have to be careful when swimming. In January and February a strong east wind brings high waves. The best time to visit Koh Hai is from December to July, high season is from January to April. The island is though at any time an ideal place to relax – besides a small diving school there are only beaches, palm trees, forest and absolute tranquility.
Boat trips from Koh Hai to nearby islands and to the mainland are available. Particularly on weekends it is possible to join a group with tourists. Popular destinations are: Koh Rok (24 km), Koh Muk (8 km), Koh Kradan (8 km).
